Second Saturday – Family activities at Guildhall Art Gallery

Book now

A revolving programme of family activities may have you heading into the Roman Amphitheatre and hearing tales of Roman conquests, or creating crafts from the Victorian paintings surrounding you.

We run themed family events on the Second Saturday of every month. Our next Second Saturday on 11 January brings you a fun range of activities to celebrate the New Year at the Guildhall Art Gallery and its inspiring collection of paintings. This session has a special theme of Great Fire of London, responding to paintings in our collection.

  • 11 am to 4 pm: Activities include making collages of the Great Fire, colour in maps and a range of materials to explore.
  • 11.30am and 2.30pm: Storytelling sessions in the Gallery (approx 20 mins).
  • 11.45am to 12.30pm: Great Fire of London gallery tour.

A story corner with soft cushions, dress-up costumes and building bricks will also be available throughout the day.

Please note this family session runs between 11am and 4pm. Plan to make a day of it - bring a picnic lunch to have in Guildhall Yard, or eat nearby.

This event is for children aged 3 to 13 and their families, and it is not suitable for individual adults. The activities are free but booking is advised.

Sign up to the family mailing list to be the first to hear about upcoming events.
