Getting Here

The City has excellent train and tube connections from whichever direction you're coming from. It's accessible via seven London Underground tube lines, plus the Elizabeth Line, DLR, London Overground, and various National Rail services. Other options to get into the City of London include bus, riverboat services (Blackfriars Pier and Tower Pier), and dedicated cycle routes. You can also walk to the City from other parts of central London - and beyond.

Travel by Train or Tube

Many people choose to start their City adventure from St Paul's, but there are several other options.

  • Stations within the City: Aldgate, Bank, Barbican, Blackfriars, Cannon Street, Chancery Lane, City Thameslink, Fenchurch Street, Liverpool Street, Mansion House, Monument, Moorgate, St Paul’s, and Tower Gateway.
  • Stations on the edge of the City: Aldgate East, Farringdon, Shoreditch High Street, Temple, Tower Hill.

If you're travelling within the Transport for London area, buy tickets, travelcards and Oyster Cards online or from places across London - or use contactless payment cards. Oyster Cards can also be purchased from the City Information Centre near St Paul’s Cathedral.

By Bus

The City is accessible via bus throughout the day and night. Bus tickets and travelcards can be purchased in advance using TFL tickets or use contactless payment cards when you board the bus. Oyster cards and bus passes can also be purchased from the City Information Centre.

Come and see the Lord Mayor's Show

On Saturday 9 November, come and see a tradition over 800 years old and one of the biggest dates in the City of London's calendar.

A lively spectacle of sights and sounds, the Lord Mayors Show brings together over 7,000 participants, 200 horses, and approximately 150 groups and floats to celebrate the Lord Mayor’s first full day in office.
