Experience the power of Romanticism with Liszt’s Les préludes, Mendelssohn’s iconic Violin Concerto, and Schubert’s grand final symphony. Conductor Daniele Rustioni and violinist Francesca Dego debut with the LSO.

Experience Romanticism in full bloom with three beautifully contrasting pieces: Liszt at his most expressive, late Mendelssohn at his finest, and Schubert at his grandest.

Franz Liszt’s Les préludes is a symphonic poem that, though concise, is filled with emotional intensity, evoking themes of love and nature. Mendelssohn’s final Violin Concerto is one of his most beloved works, with the violin taking command from the second bar, introducing a series of glorious, unforgettable themes. Schubert’s Great Symphony, his last completed symphony, showcases his mastery of orchestral colour and melodic invention, making for a powerful and fitting final statement.

Conductor Daniele Rustioni and violinist Francesca Dego make their LSO Barbican debuts, bringing their artistry to this programme. Together with the LSO’s unique blend of grace and power, they promise an evening of music to remember.
